Getting Your LTE/5G Private Network

So you have decided that a private LTE or 5G network is right for you. We are ready to take you through the process.

The Steps

Our role is to plan, install, and operate your network so that you can focus on running your business. Here are the steps.

1 – Scoping

We collect the basic information about your project, such as:

  • Where is your project located?
  • What is your current license status, if any?
  • What sort of area do you need to cover? Indoor? Outdoor? Ground cover? Structures?
  • How many devices do you need to support? What are the typical data rates? What vendors supplier these devices? Do you need a partner to provide them?
  • What level of redundancy and reliability do you require?
  • What is your budget?
  • What, for you, defines a successful network installation?

Based on this information, we scope your project and provide you with a budgetary estimate and a “not to exceed” cost limit. You accept the proposal and make an initial payment to cover the planning phase.

2 – Spectrum Licensing (CBRS only)

If you require a CBRS license to operate, we make and follow the application for you.

3 – Site Survey

We will collect from you the information that we need for a network plan, including coverage estimates. This information may include building floor plans, information about construction materials, and photographs, as well as spectrum measurements and research into other users of the same and nearby bands in your area. We verify with you the proposed installation points, power feeds, and cable routes.

4 – Radio Planning

Based on the site survey, we make a coverage plan to determine how many radio units will be needed, power levels, antenna types, and specific installation points and cable routes.

5 – Network Design

Once the coverage plan is complete, we design the full network, based on the products that are best suited to the project. This design includes the radio network, core network, transport network, SIMs, power supplies, and monitoring systems. (For an example plan, contact us at the bottom of this page.)

At this point, we deliver the plan, including the acceptance test, a detailed BOM and cost for the radio network. Once we all agree on the details, you make a down payment for the equipment and the project moves forward.

6 – Acquire Network Identifiers

Your private network will require certain globally-unique identity codes that will be provided by your regulator or, for CBRS, by the CBRS Alliance. Legba will assist you in filing the documents to obtain these codes.

7 – Ordering and Delivery

We provide or source the network equipment (core, radio, and transport), supplies, antennas, SIMs, and anything else in the BOM. Depending on the project, the equipment may be delivered directly to your site, or to the installer.

8 – Installation

A certified installer comes to your site, installs the network hardware, and runs the initial functional tests.

9 – Configuration, Optimization

We configure your complete network, then work with the installer to make a coverage survey. If there are performance deficiencies, we correct them as needed. Once the system passes the acceptance test, you make the final installation payment.

10 – Operations

Once the optimization is complete, you are ready to start using the network. For a monthly fee, we monitor the network performance and make corrections as needed as per our agreed SLA. Your KPI logs and reports are available online whenever you would like to see them.
